  • Any help regarding paid item charges

    Hello.

Found this site this morning and was just having a read through and the advice seems ok.

    Anyway.. to my point.

I received an account summary this morning and the charges are quite frankly obscene. It's my own fault as it's not an account I use often and was actually unaware that I was £30 overdrawn.

I can live with the £15 fee as it was unarranged.

What I am struggling with is that my Amazon account is linked to the card on that.... something else that had slipped my mind. I bought four cheap books via my kindle and thought it linked to my main bank account... sadly not.
    Therefore...

I have 4x PAID ITEM FEE CARD PAYMENT things to Amazon. The books are £0.86, £1.43, £3.58 and £0.99. However they're accompanied with 4x £30 fees And the unaranged overdraft fee of £15.

Is there anything I can do about these?

It's my own fault obviously.. so if it's tough then it's tough... but £135 in charges for items totalling less than 7 quid... shocking.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Andy

Have a read of the Lending Code, especially Chapter 9 which deals with financial difficulties.

I don't know how far apart these fees were, but the bank has an obligation, as you will read, to let you know wht is happening.

If you feel they have not lived up to their side of the Lending Code I would ask for some or all of the fees to be returned.

I would just ring them and explain what has happened, I am sure if it is not something that happens a lot on the account they may return some or all of the fees. Customer satisfaction is very much top of their list right now and as the fees would be put on automatically they would probably not know of the amounts you have gone overdrawn.
      Good Luck
