I have /used to have a halifax account. One day in August last year Paypal went mad and decided to try to take a £15 payment from my bank account even though I had more than £20 in paypal. Halifax bounced the payment and charged me £35. I wrote to paypal and halifax, neither really cared and the charge stood. I didn't do anything. Having lost heart and hope I decided just to let it go and bury my head again. I didn't pay any money in or take any out. A coupld of days ago I decided to face things again and had a look at the account on line. It says the account has been closed. They had charged me one more time and added a bit of interest then just closed the account leaving a 0 balance. I have received no letter from them. Does anyone have any idea might have happened. Perhaps I should write to them but I kind of like the idea of letting sleeping dogs lie...

    thanks

The 0 balance will mean they have passed the account over to a debt collection agency/company. They should have sent you a notice of assignment / default notice etc but tbh I'd just leave it for now until a DCA contacts you.
