  • Natwest yet again

After 18 months of absolutely no charges I accidentally went 32p over my limit in April. Cue 3 months of £28 overlimit fees on that account. I got this account back under the limit fairly quickly and have had no charges for the last couple of months so decided to wait for the outcome of the test case etc before doing anything.

However, at the end of June I got hit with a paid referral fee on our other account, which took us over the limit, triggering another £28 charge at the end of july. unsurprisingly, this took us overlimit again, which means not only will there be a 28 charge at the end of the month, but also led to a d/d being bounced, at a cost of £38. Which led to us being even more over the limit, which led to another 4 bounced d/d's, a total of £190 in bounced charges over 5 days. And so the cylce begins again...........

I've been following the test case but as it didn't really impact on me, it hasn't all sunk in to be honest.

So the question is, do I put a claim in now, or wait for the outcome? Bearing in mind I have already had all my charges back on both accounts once, and can't get into the position of them clsoing our account etc, as our mortgage is also with them.

Don't think I'd scrape in under the hardship rules, although the way its going I'll be clsoe on to the £500 charges in a year!

    Advice anyone?

    Re: Natwest yet again

Your mortgage being with Natwest shouldnt matter at all.

Get your preliminary letter of - you dont need DPA etc as you have your details already, so I'd get that off so you are at least in the queue. If you do think there is hardship aspects then include those in your letter too. I'm not sure I know enough of your circumstances to say although the bryan carter and council tax issues may indicate it could be worth looking at closer.

Yeah, will do, when I get chance. Will throw in council tax and bryan see if I can confuse them enough to pay up early lol. Talking of Bryan, have just made first payment of £50. Only another 11 to go.....

Am usually up to overdraft limit on both accounts so would be in a bit of poo if they decided to close the accounts, and really wouldn't want that to happen as we might not be able to get another decent current account with debit card due to recent credit history... I know we could get basic accounts but have already got those in the background anyway. Sorry but I just can not give up my debit cards.
