Re: Notice of Statutory Demand letter received

Have you used them to recover PPI and now they claim you owe them fees?
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

OK. What can you recall about this? Because this WILL need tackling hard if they can show you agreed to such a payment.
Even without home ownership, I'm sure you would prefer not to be bankrupted over this?
Can you take us through what happened please?

Re: Notice of Statutory Demand letter received

It was around 4 years ago and I claimed PPI charges back. I think I thought at the time they took a fee out of the winnings and I never actually paid anything.

I am pretty sure I owe them money.

You are right I would prefer not to bankrupt over this amount, do you think they would agree to a repayment plan?

Re: Notice of Statutory Demand letter received

Almost certainly they will agree. I am torn on one fact though. The debt amount is so low!! It will cost them near to that amount to actually bankrupt you. Issuing a stat demand costs virtually nothing aside from process servers fee. But to issue the petition itself is several hundred pounds.
But then again they can just add that cost to your debt so I don't think it's a good idea to gamble.
OK,can you upload and share with us page 2 of the demand where it gives the details of the debt. Anonymize any name/address details first.
So have you had any demand letters from them previously? I'm guessing your bank refunded the PPI to your account directly and Consumernet didn't get paid.
Critical question: did you pay any upfront fee to them when you instructed them to recover PPI?

Re: Notice of Statutory Demand letter received

I can't remember if I paid a fee upfront or not but if I had to guess I would say no I did not.

I haven't had any letters from them to my current address, I would say they must have sent some to the previous one but a lot of things have happened in the last 4 years.

Is it ok if I upload the page tomorrow when I have access to a scanner?

Of course, scan it whenever you can. We have 18 days to deal with this.

Re: Notice of Statutory Demand letter received

Well I know a SD is a SD, but phew! a £800 debt to a ppi reclaim company is a lot less concerning for you than the reappearance of £17k odd ex secured loan.

I have just visited the website of Consumer Net and have looked for their authorisation number with the MOJ as you can see below that they do not show their authorisation number that they are properly authorised for this type of business........ I therefore checked the authorisation register at the MOJ and could not locate an authorisation number for this company. I will therefore request from our contact tomorrow at the MOJ/TS to confirm to me that they are legit and why they are not showing their authorisation number on their website as I am sure this must be a condition of authorisation with the MOJ to show this that they are able to conduct this type of business. I will come revert back when I have received an answer.

Would the money still be owed if ConsumerNet had been authorised by the Ministry of Injustice at the time that the OP entered into a contract with them?

They do need a smack for not having the number on their website though.

It would be a good idea to dig out a copy of the agreement signed with consumernet and post it up. Also previous invoices etc for the debt.

Have you considered making a payment to take the debt under £750 (I don't know how much charges have been added to it so don't know if that is a possibility) and making a repayment arrangement with them ?

                              Authorisation here.

MoJ do not require that you display the authorisation number on your website as far as I can see?

They simply state here in their guidance that the regulations can be complied with by a statement of the form.

The legal requirements can be best met by using
                              the following regulatory statement:

“ABC is regulated by the Claims Management

management activities; its registration is recorded
                              on the website www.justice.gov.uk/claims-
