  • Rossendales to Equita

    Hi,

My council tax was passed from Rossendales to Equita recently.
I have four council tax arrears outstanding that I am trying to pay off, bit-by-bit.
I'm a single person in part time work, barely making ends meet.

Equita have added on charges to all four which means. I was going to ask my mother (who is an OAP) is she could
lend me the money I owe on the oldest one. But I was considering paying only the money that was owed from the Council tax
    and not their charges.
Once that's settled, can they still chase the charges they added?

I was sure that the Citizens advice told me (this is some time ago so I can't recall accurately) that once the base owed payment was paid.
They can try for their charges but they cannot legally demand it? (or something like that?) Can anyone put me correct on this please?

Can anyone advise the best way to tackle this?

    Thank you.
