  • Urgent help

After some urgent advise in anyone is available.

I had my council tax bill passed to the bailiffs at the end of February and was subsequently charged for 2 visits (which I don't believe they did as no letter left etc.) which was under the old legislation, so came to £42.50.

I have not agreed a repayment with them as I am paying the Council directly as I want nothing to do with them, however this morning I had a note posted through the door with the usual rubbish stating they will remove goods etc. but it stated they had charged me a £235 enforcement fee. Now I know the new legislation came into effect on the 6th April which allows them to charge £235 for a visit, however my question is, can they still enforce this new fee given I have already been charged for 2 visits under the old legislation? As is my eyes, they are billing me for the same thing, so isn't an enforceable fee.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

No they haven't, I tried to arrange it with them but they keep saying I need to speak to the bailiffs.

If I'm being honest I am going the balance I owe the council off on Thursday, but I need to know where I stand with bailiff charges I.e. the £235.

      Thanks for responding.
