Hi. This is a bit complicated! My son has received visits from bailiffs here at my home although he hasn't lived here for over three years. Unfortunately, my husband bought a car on HP for our son who subsequently registered it in his own name but at this address as it is to all intents and purposes my husbands car. ( probably a silly thing to do..but here we are ). He has parking fines which have now gone to bailiffs etc. All of the notices etc etc have come here to my house and as we have not seen my son for a long time have remained here unopened. Following the bailiffs visit I opened all the mail and realised the parking tickets were outstanding, so I paid them. The bailiffs will not take no for an answer..ie that my son doesn't live here anymore. I am not willing to pass on his forwarding address.
If the bailiffs do trace him, can they still use the warrant even though it has my address on it?
I should also say that I paid the tickets to the council who issued them by sending postal orders.
My husband has now taken back the car and re registered it to himself.
Thanks in advance for any help given
