  • rossendales, taking things that don't belong to them

Ok so I rent a building which I turned in to a pub. My landlord is fighting with the council regarding rates for when it was empty. However rossendales have been to the pub and listed all my items and say they are taking them away tomorrow. I explained I rented a empty building and everything belongs to me however they said they are still coming in and if I dont have receipts for everything they are taking it.

Things I got free like my fridge and my glasses etc I can not produce receipts for. Help

Get down to a solicitor today and swear a Statutory Declaration to the effect that the items you refer to are your property and not the landlord's. Taking goods not belonging to a debtor is an absolute no-no and illegal. Have a number of SDs notarised, slap one on the council and Rossendales. If the muppets then try to remove, they will have more hassle than they can handle. It might also be a good idea to nip into the local police station and speak to the Duty Sergeant about Rossendales' antics. Let the police have a notarised copy of the SD and explain that bailiffs cannot lawfully seize goods that belong to anyone other than the debtor named on the Liability Order. Go to the main Bailiff Forum page, click on Useful Letters and you will find a template SD you can use, customise and print out. It should cost £5-£10 to get a High Street solicitor to notarise SDs.

Do as Bluebottle suggests, and do it immediately.
