Re: Jacobs letters through door - council refuse to take back debt

I would be inclined to have a Statutory Declaration done specifically for your car and tip off the local police that Jacobs are in the process of auditioning for The Muppet Show (Forgive me, Jim Henson. I don't mean to take your creations in vain.). If the police are forewarned about Jacobs' attempts to levy on a third-party vehicle, which is illegal, and the bailiff is foolish enough to kick off or attempt to remove your car, you might be lucky enough to get a rare sighting of the Blue Crested Police Bird in action (Latin Name: Kickus Bailiffus Upthebumicus).
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

Would the "dragus tovannicus" make an appearence also to pull the bailiff to the police vehicle?

It's about time plod confronted Jacobs theiving a third party car and went in with extreme prejudice!

But good advice to put the actual car(s) on the Stat Dec, as if removed police "should" then regard them as stolen if Jacobs follow their usual MO and tow them.

Great advice thanks Bluebottle. This site is keeping me sane through all this (and even giving me a laugh!)

I sent them a letter today stating that the vehicle registration they were levying on was not known to anyone at this house, but that a car of similar description with a different registration belonged to me and not the debtor. I pointed out in the letter that it was unlawful for them to attempt to seize any goods belonging to a third party and referred them back to the stat dec I previously sent to them. Also sent the letter (from the stickies) asking them for breakdown of their fees - will post again if/when they reply and see what the extra £300/£400 they have added is all about!

I was actually on holiday when they came and apparently levied my vehicle. After hearing all about Jacobs I am surprised that my car was still there when I came home!

Yes Jacobs usual MO is to take the car and sell it almost before you know it is gone

I would not be surprised if Dragus Tovannicus put in an appearance, BB. And if the OP is very lucky, Givus Bailifficus Agoodhardslapicus might even put in an appearance, though, they do tend to be very shy.

Hopefully handus cufficus, or cableus tieus, would also show up, along with a batallion of drawnus batonnicus, to subdue the delusional bailiff.

No, BB. I think you'll find it's more likely to be Menus Inwhitecoaticus. They're often seen along Dawlish Warren heading in the direction of the Butler Clinic.

Are there enough places left in secure mental health units for all the delusional Enforcement industry Operatives?

                      Probably not.
