  • Vunerable adult

    Hi, hope someone can help.

I suffer from severe depression along with other mental illness. I fell behind with rent and council tax etc.

my rent Goes back 3 years after my depression first started, I got a suspended court order which I paid for a good few months (only a small amount due to low income). I fell behind and landlord took me back to court in feb, the case was adjourned twice due to mental health assessments etc. this week I've been given 8 weeks and am shortly going into supported accommodation. I do accept this and do understand etc.

i have fallen behind with council tax this year and had 1 letter and 2 visits from bailiffs about this, I've not answered door to them. I've been told I am a vunerable adult. I just need a letter template I can send if anyone can help, I have had enough of the stress and its not helping my mental health.

Was you assessed for supported living? Are you under mental health services or social services? Either way you can request your consultant/GP/CPN/SW write a letter confirming your diagnosis and support an application to the court asking for a payment plan.

Generally, if assessed for supported living, you would be financially assessed (housing benefit and the care component) - has this been completed, and was you offered assistance to maximise your income?
