The only ones you could ignore are Parking Charge Notices which are a an attempt to pervert of the Law of Contract, using unlawful civil penalties and intimodation by the likes of Parking Eye, where all they can ask for is consequential loss if they go to court and usually fail when it is found their £80 PCN is an unlawful civil penalty with all the compulsion of an invoice.

I am struggling with what I'm reading here, though I confess to not having read anything like the whole thread.

However, for anyone in any doubt, Penalty Charge Notices are legally issued fines and should be paid. I'm afraid that one person getting away with failing to pay them might land a lot of other posters in trouble thinking they can do the same.

It is totally irresponsible in my opinion to allow something which could result in many other posters falling foul of the authorities and the law to be posted so openly.

Legislation is there for a reason - some we agree with, others we don't. We cannot pick and choose which parts we concur with and which we feel we can ignore without facing the penalty for ignoring them. If you believe you have found a hole in the system, feel free to exploit it, but please don't encourage other members on here to do the same. I guarantee most will have their lives made a total misery if they ignore PCN's.

And what would you expect, would you want the law to permit you being thrown into prison. There are limited avenues for the collection of any debt, I dare say bankruptcy and the loss of creditworthiness accompanied with the constant threat of the knock on the door is the only sanction available, for most that would be enough.

This is not a bargain or a contract, it is a penalty endorsed by legislation.

Thank you for this, when it comes to pcn it is a fine for financial gain whether people believe it or not, and you dont have to do business with this company if you dont wish to. This why they changed to charge instead of fine as you cannot be fined before conviction, crafty buggers they are
