  • Balifs demanding £1000 I do not have

On Friday evening I received a hand delivered letter stating that I had 7 days to pay them £1000 or they will remove goods for sale at public auction.
Having phoned the balifs to find out what the money owed was in connection with I was informed it was for an unp speeding ticket from last year in my vehicle but I never received anything prior to this.

I recently lost my job and am on JSA while I find new work and have no savings. What can I do?

If it helps the balif company handling it is collectica.

        If they turn up
        Dont let them in
        Dont talk to them
        Hide any vehicles you own
        Whats the debt for?
More advice will follow read it and follow it
Most of all ignore their threats they have very limited powers without written instructions from a court

Have you moved at all since the alleged offence?

The offence is for failing to provide driver information.
No I have not moved but the vehicle was registered under a company name not mine with a septate address.

All the communications will have gone to the address the DVLA held at the time the alleged offence was committed. Sounds to me as if Collectica have been doing some data cleansing. You will need to get on to the Court and ask for the exact address on the Warrant and ask to make a Statutory Declaration as you knew nothing of this until the bailiff has knocked. Incidentally is there a reason why the company did not forward this to you?
