Any help appreciated here
A couple of weeks ago Bristow and Sutor turned up at my partners house, she wasnt at home only here 19yo daughter and fiancee. 2 big thugs basically at the door with a van parked outside shone a torch in her eyes telling her they had a right to come in and take what they wanted, obviously she was terrified and gave them her mums mobile number she got really upset and the bailiffs were given £300. A receipt was given and a verbal agreement to pay monthly the remainder of the debt agreed with them saying that a full breakdown would be given etc.
The only corrispondance given was a standing order form pushed through the door with a reference number on to access the online system, which doesnt work.
Now they are saying that there was £100 still owing from a previous liability order where a walking possession had taken place at a previous property, my partner remembers this taking place and believes that it was all paid off as she made all the required payments and heard nothing for over 12 months until this latest appearance.
We have sent the letters to the council asking for a complete breakdown of
1 - how many Liability Orders they have against you
2 - the dates they were obtained
3 - the addresses they were for
4 - the period of time each covers
5 - how much each one was for
6 - how much is still outstanding
7 - the dates they were passed on for enforcement
8 - the dates & amounts of any payments
and also if they will take back the debt but all this takes time and the next baliff payment is due on wednesday so she is in a situation where the only information she has is the total of £1650 the baliffs say she owes of which they already have had £300, having had a look for her i think that the debt to the council is around £1000 and the bailiffs are illegally charging loads of fees which they will take before the council get there money so what is the best thing to do now?
