I think I've discover this great site to late let me explain.

A bailiff letter was received in connection with a council tax bill. This bill is alleged over 5 years old I don't believe I owe the money although I can't prove it. The letter was delivered to my parents address as that is obviously my last known address to the council. I contacted bailiff and informed him that I don't believe amount due us valid as u didn't live at the address at the dates given. I was told I would have to take it up with the council, I asked about the fess I was told that I had a fee of 24.50 for the first letter and a second letter would be delivered in a few days adding an additional fee if no payment is received.

I contact council they say I have to deal with council and outstanding is valid unless I can prove otherwise. I've looked and I can't.

i keep bailiff informed of what's going on. I get told he's still holding off second letter but needs a meeting at my parents house or a payment. I get told that if payment received it will give me a few days grace. I make a payment and agree to arrange a meeting next week and of coarse no second letter will be delivered incurring another fee.

Well tonight a second letter gets delivered incurring another fee. So much for waiting till start if next week.

having just found this amazing website I realise I've messed up by making a payment. The original bill is 500 plus fees which will total an extra £50. I've paid £50 so in result the bailiff has made £50 council has been paid nothing.

    Whats my next move?

    Re: Messed up

    It's never too late!

On Monday morning you need to phone the council and ask:

    1. How many Liability Orders they have against you?
    2. The dates they were obtained?
    3. The addresses they were for?
    4. The period of time each covers?
    5. How much each one was for?
    6. How much is still outstanding?
    7. The dates they were passed on for enforcement?

When you say the bailiff sent letters, I assume you mean visited?

While waiting for Monday morning, have a read of this:
