  • Jacobs in Scotland

    Hi

Quick question, do Jacobs have any power in Scotland? I have a liability order from an English court for CT arrears from a home I shared with my ex partner. We split and I moved back to Scotland with basicly the clothes I stood in. I was staying with various friends and one let me use his address so that I could claim JSA. I am now getting mail at that address from Jacobs saying that they are going to take my belongings.

I emailed them and explained the situation and that I did not stay at that house and the address was only so that I could sign on. This morning another letter arrived from Jacobs stating that they had a Liability Order.

I just dont know what to do and would appreciate any advice.

      Short answer is, no.

In the first instance, there would need to be an application to the Sherrif Court for a summary judgment, which would then be passed on to the Sherrif Officers for collection of the debt.
