  • rundle & co bailiffs

2 days ago i received a letter from rundle & co baliffs stating that they would come and remove my goods because of a 877 pounds council tax debt i owed. i contacted them today and said that i did want to pay my debt but that since i dont have a job yet it would be very difficult to pay the whole amount directly. i then offered to pay 100 pound by credit card through their automated phone service. the man i spoke to told me that he would be in touch within 7 days to discuss my situation.

The baliff told me very nicely (as if he was doing me a favour) that he would like to come over to my house in 7 days to discuss the matter, however, after reading the numerous threads on baliffs, i dont think he should come to my house i dont understand why he cannot discuss this matter over the phone. it seems that baliffs can only enter a property peacefully and it seems that this baliff is inviting himself into my house. I told him that i didnt want to meet him in my home as i did my research and found out that the most important thing was that under no circumstance should anyone allow a baliff to enter one's property. he told me that this was not true and that was only relevant for utility bills and that since he was with the council this fact did not apply to him. Although i told him that he was not right, since most of the research i did was on council tax debts, he still instited that he would come over to discuss matters in a weeks time.

what should i do now?? i have offered him to meet him in another location but i really think he wants to attempt getting into my house in a peaceful manner. should I contact the council? furthermore, i already made a payment of 100 pounds to the baliff, will he be able to organise some sort of instalment payment scheme??

    thank you

    Re: rundle & co baliffs

Have you read the bailiff guide Bailiff Guide - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum

Keep the bailiff out of your house at all costs.

Is £877 purely council tax, as advised to you by the council or is this amount an amount that Rundle & Co have conjured up?

Thank you so much for your reply Amy/

i owe about £790 for the council tax so it seems that the baliffs are also over charging me. The attendence notice states that i owe £877. should i also confront them regarding their fees? what should i do in 7 days time when he contacts me again??

In the bailiff guide there is a link to a Subject Access Request letter, send that to them.
