  • JBW clamped car - no letters received to warn

    Hello - can someone help me, my sister got clamped outside her house for non payment of a parking ticket that she was apparently issued back in november 2010. She would have been sure to pay any ticket straight away to avoid the fine doubling and is not sure she even received this ticket in the first place. She has scanned bank statements this morning and cannot find a payment to Wandsworth council for this ticket. JBW Group turned up on this Saturday morning out the blue clamped the car and gave her doc with these charges;

    'Notice of Seizure of Goods & Inventory'
    Details of address, parking ticket no etc etc
    Penalty Charge and court costs £185.00
    Sending a letter £11.20
    levy/Attendance to levy £60.27
    Removal/Attendance to Remove £175.00
    VAT £49.37
    Total Amount due today £481.24

    She paid the money but is absolutely 100% sure there was no previous correspondance about this otherwise she would have dealt with it. I am concerned to read that others state the same, no letters. suggestions made that this is done purposely.
    Is there anything we can do?

    Thank you for any advice!
