Hi, i am dealing with jbw. The bailiff left the letter that we wants to remove the goods, but he never was inside the property. I have outstanding amount of £617, which i can pay in full. But I checked if the bailiff is certified, and his name is not on the list. I tried to contact him yesterday, but he first didn't answer, and later switched his phone off. I called the office, but their number starts with 0844, and they left me on hold for 15 minutes just to be told they won't take payment of me, because i have to call bailiff.
Is it still possible to call the council and pay them full amount?
    Please help.

What is this debt for? What goods have been levied? How much is the actual debt as opposed to the sum JBW are trying to collect?

It is possible the online bailiff certification list is not up to date so it might be best to call the Ministry of Justice to check his details 020 3334 3555

      Thank you for your reply.

The debt is for council tax (£617). He did not enter property, so he doesn't have list of any goods. I am prepared to pay full amount, but can't get through to bailiff, people in office won't accept my payment, so I have no idea what to do now.

So is the £617 the amount in actual council tax you owe?

You should pay this directly to the council and ignore the bailiff.

I believe the actual council tax i owe is under £600. I tried to talk to council about it and explain the situation to them. At that time I did not have the money to pay in full, but my brother offered to send me the money to clear this debt. The woman in council told me to find full amount and pay it to jbw right away. So she wasn't very helpful.
Do you think that council will accept the payment? The debt is from previous year.

I can't believe that JBW will only have added on £17 for this, so you really need to check with your council to find out the actual amount of council tax you owe.

Do you have more than one Liability Order?

The council must accept your payment(s), they cannot refuse to allow you to pay them.

I believe I do. My partner and I lost the jobs at the beginning of the year and got little behind this year council tax (£440) but half of it was already repaid and we paying £100 a month to resolve this. I pay directly to council as they keep changing bailiffs (at least it looks like it).

The last year council tax that was outstanding was £520.

You really need to speak with your council and get them to provide you with some solid confirmation of what you owe.

If you can pay what they say you owe them, then you should do this immediately, but be prepared for them to insist they cannot take your payments - they can and they must.

The council must have a online payment system or even a cashiers desk. Go to the desk and ask them for a balance. they will either tell you it has gone to the bailiffs or will give youit. Then go online and pay it off.
If you have any sort of problems with bailiffs. I can help you as i am a self proclaimed specialist at dealing with them. I am hopefully going to start a degree (law) from october. If you think my posts are helpful or are guiding you in the right direction do show your appreciation by giving me a green blob.
