I know it's from the other side, but has anyone read this book? If so, is it worth buying?

Well IMHO there is nothing in that book that you can source free on the internet.

But if you need a bedtime read, well that is different.

Definitely don't need a bedtime read! Equally gave some advice that was wrong the other day and really beat myself up about it, I felt absolutely terrible, so if it contains sound advice that goes beyond the very basics and any guides etc... on this site, then it may be worth my while reading it.

By which you're answering my question about whether or not it includes anything that's not in the guide!

I have no idea what information is contained in that book and I have no intention of finding out either because bailiff law is not a secret and is very well documented on this site and in other places that are free.

However, if you choose to spend money on it then go for it and let us know if there is anything new in it.

Think you mean can't source free! Have you actually read the book then?

Nope not read the book and like Amy I have no intention to ether, because like Amy said above it is well documented on the internet.

I appreciated that you may have mis-informed someone but please do not take that to heart Casper it is indeed how we all learn and you being an ex-teacher I'm sure you can understand that.

Indeed we have all at some point in our strive to help folk on these boards given out wrong information myself included, but does that make us the fool not at all.

So if you want to buy the book be my guest as that is your decision at the end of the day, but all the info you need is out their on the web.

                  Hi Casper,
I hope your not still worried about my thread, I understand that every thing you advised was with the intention of helping someone who you rightly recognised as slipping into a panic. Your input was greatly appreciated and the posts had the effect of giving me something to focus on and it very much helped. I understand that anything posted on any forum can not be guaranteed as being 100% fact and remember you did keep saying that you were not an expert in this area. Amy is obviously a very informed person and you rightly directed me towards her. Don't beat yourself up about it, without good natured people like yourself these forums would not be the success they are.
I will post an update of my encounter with the bailiffs shortly !!!!!!

The main changes that the book has for the October 2009 edition is the impact of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007

Looks like I save my money and keep reading then. Like all of us I know I'm on a steep learning curve, especially at this early stage, but me being me I have a perfectionist personality and hate getting things wrong - this is totally my problem, but not something I find easy to deal with.

Bjpw - you're right, it was that thread, but my comments were in no way whatsoever directed at you,nor anyone else. Simply a statement of how I felt because of it. As outlined above that is something I have to learn to deal with if I am to be involved with sites like this.

I know we all make mistakes, but part of my mental illness stems back to the fact that when a Headteacher despite outstanding OFSTED reports, performance figures and everything, it still was not good enough for me. The professionals are working with me at the moment to try to help with this trait as in the end it becomes self destroying.

Thanks for your kind comments though, much appreciated, but as I said not directed at anyone but myself!
