Can someone please help?

I've had a letter land on my doorstep this morning from " PHILIPS" titled, "PRE-REMOVAL NOTICE" for a court fine which I have been paying off at £25 per month but defaulted by a matter of days, I've had no other correspondence in the past from PHILIPS and they are demanding a payment of £1,110.84. They have charged me £200 for a claimed visit on the 1st Oct at 11:45 "which was impossible" where the "BAILIFF" apparently spoke to me and god knows what else as my fine was less than £300.

I told them this was not possible, as I work and can't be in two places at the same time, I was at the other side of the region on that very day and at that very time, I have GPS on my van that proves it, yet they proceeded to lie saying that they have GPS and mine proved nothing even though I have all of my job sheets dated and timed.

They're trying to fraudulently claim money!!!!!!!!!!! I've considered contacting the police on this matter can anyone give me any advice??????

It was an apparent motoring offence, My car was parked on the roadside untaxed, sods law really, It was a non-starter so I couldn't move it even if I wanted too, I'm no mechanic, and I got the ticket the same day as it was taken away for scrap :-(

Also, if they did call to my home, am I right in understanding that they should have left evidence i:e a letter posted through my letter box stating that i need to contact them, the amount owed and the charges for the visit? If so where do I stand when no evidence was left and charges have been made?

Magistrates Court Fines

For certain types of fines for example parking fines, speeding fines and TV licence fines, bailiffs do have the power to break into your home to take your goods even if they have not been into your home before. You must, therefore, treat a Magistrates Court fine as a priority debt because you could be sent to prison if you default on payments and, although very rare, this does happen.

For this reason it is no longer safe to try to avoid bailiffs coming into your home by refusing to let them in for the collection of the fines mentioned above.

If you have concrete proof that what the bailiffs are claiming is a lie, I'd be inclined to go back to the court and seek advice from them - they employ the bailiffs. You must have good reason to complain, so I would write saying the debt is now in dispute and you may be commencing criminal proceedings against them. At the same time ask for written evidence of their visit (or record a phone conversation where they claim they visited) and a breakdown of their fees.

I am not an expert in this area so would wait till someone who knows more posts, but as nobody has posted for a while that would be my initial view!
