  • Bailiff visit my parents house for parking fines

    Hi guys

I'm looking for a little help regarding **** Bailiffs visiting my Fathers house to cease goods for unpaid parking fines. Basically my ex girlfriend must have accumilated a few parking fines without my knowledge in December/January time using my car.

At the time of these alleged offence i had moved house and forgot to change the registration address of my car from my fathers to my new address. I now live in Spain & have done since May 2010, and the car is here with me but still registered to my fathers address.

I've spoken to my father and he has thrown most of my mail in the bin as the only letters usually sent there are spent debts from 10 years ago which i just ignore. At the time of registering the car at my dads last year, i was in between countries temporarily.

I have no knowledge of the parking fines nor the bailiffs letters until this week. I've not phoned them at all and i'm wondering what step to take next.

They are asking for £900+ and i have in my posession and enforcement notice asking me to pay immediately

I'm not intending moving back to the UK at all this year and the car is staying here permanently now i think and i'm currently in the process of registering the car with Spanish plates etc.

What can i do to get them off my dads back and do i even have to pay this amount whilst living abroad?

    Thanks, B
