  • Baliffs legal hours

    Hi
Can anyone help, what are the Bristow & Sutor bailiff’s legal days and times of operations?
If they are bound by legal hours of operation and they turn up outside of these hours then can I do anything about it?
    Thanks in advance.

Can bailiffs visit when they want

Most bailiffs have a legal right to come to your home at any time of day or night to try to take your things. However, in practice bailiffs shouldn’t come at the following times unless the court has specifically ordered it:
    • before 6am
    • after 9pm
    • on Sundays
    • on bank holidays
    • Good Friday
    • Christmas Day
    • other religious festivals, as appropriate.

Agree with Michael here! The law (very outdated) states "Sunrise to Sunset". In reality this is now accepted by the Courts as 6am-9pm Mon-Sat. There is nothing in statute anymore to prevent bailiffs from calling on Sundays, however, I've yet to meet one that will work on a Sunday!!
