I have been hounded by TV licencing for about 8 yrs. Initially I phoned, wrote, sent copies of licence, then when it kept happening I didn't bother and chucked the letters they sent. Then when it kept happening I kept all correspondence. I had a doorstep visit about 2 years ago, produced the licence, and he said he would get records updated. Needless to say kept getting letters.
Had another visit in Aug, could not produce licence as had paid online, but gave him unique ref number generated when payment confirmed. Said he could not accept it and cautioned me.
Phoned them the next day, they confirmed I had a licence, and would update their records. Had a summons to go to court an am going not guilty. I intend to let them have their say, then produce the 17 letters I have had from then since 2004, and the 10 licences I have kept, including the one which covers me for the date on summons.
I would like to know after I have said my bit if I can ask the Mags for compensation, for harassment, time spent on doorstep with these idiots, postage, phone calls, and for the embarassment caused by being obliged to tell my employers (police) that I have been summonsed to court. Or would this need to be done seperately by myself?
