  • JBW have removed my Vehicle

I have an outstanding bill with JBW of £195. I called them last week and arranged to settle the payment at the end of the month when I get paid which they agreed was fine.
Today I got a phone call at work from a baliff who told me he has removed my vehicle and that I now owe a staggering £631.35.
I informed the baliff that I had arranged to pay the fine in full when I get paid at the end of the month and he says he has no evidence of this. I then called JBW and they deny any phone call took place. And they cannot deal with me as I have to go through the baliff.
The baliff insists that I pay the full ammount in full by cash befre he will tell me where my vehicle is and he will charge me £25 per day storage.
Do I have to pay this staggering charge of £465.00 for a removal cost? plus £85 baliff charge and £83.00 VAT?
The police have said they are unable to help and I need to contact citizens advice who are closed till Tuesday.
    Please help??? Thanks

They are required by law to inform you of impending distraint, did they do this?

You may have to pay whatever they choose to charge you and do not be surprised if it increases before you pay it and by more than £25 per day.

What did you originally owe them £195 for?

Once you have your car back, you can begin to recover your money from them, but be prepared for a battle, they will not simply give it back, you are going to have to take it by force, although legally of course, which is more than can be said for the way JBW will have relieved you of it.
