  • Charge on a property

There is a charge on the property I own freehold of 10,000 (the property is worth in excess of £350k)

It was placed there by SCM Solicitors (who I believe are no longer trading) as a result of a CCJ where I was not able to settle. The original debt was unsecured as a result of credit card debt with Sainsburys Bank. I have both Sainsburys reference and the court reference

I can't contact SCM (obviously) and I am not sure the charge is even legal since the debt was unsecured

I may be in a position to make a final (partial) settlement in the next twelve months but have no idea how I would go about doing so . The charge is dated 20 Aug 2012
