i stupidly shoplifted from primark, all adding up to £35, as i walked out the shop primark security had stopped me and led me up to the back room. i have apologised and offered to pay for the items and they agreed. i payed for them and i went back and they took my details.i got a 6 month ban. do you think they're gonna send a letter home? do u think i'm gonna get a fine?

You won't get a fine as Primark are in no position or authority to issue fines.

Did you tell them your age and did you reply truthfully? If they knew you were 15 and continued to act then they themselves have possibly broken the law and could be fined (a real fine this time) for operating in the way that they did.

Ignore it completely. You may get threatening letters from a company called RLP saying they want you to pay about £150 for causing them a nuisance. Just ignore those letters they mean absolutely nothing. Search for RLP in this forum and you will see them mentioned many times, as are Primark.

If you do get a letter from RLP don't respond but then please come back on here and tell us. They could be setting themselves up for a good spanking.

No i'm genuinely 15 as i had to show proof of id, my parents don't know about this so how long are the RLP gonna be sending letters for and do you think i should tell my mum?

It's always better (IMO) to tell your parents about the possibility of rlp if you feel you can. They (rlp) will most likely write to you personally, but they should really be leaving you alone as you are a 'minor'.

Have a read of thi sattachment (if you want) ... it'll help explain rlp's ways of dealing with anyone under 18.

I was thinking that they detained an underage person without contacting a responsible adult. I thought there were rules about this? RLP may have dropped a clanger this time. I thought that if UKGIRL informs their parents then if that RLP letter does arrive then the parents would be justified in going into Primark and raising merry hell about RLP's methods.

AS Kati suggests you are best telling your parents about this incident.
AS you are still a minor RLP are very likely to write to your parents.
They will pretend this is because they have concerns about your welfare, but in reality it is to put pressure on your parents to pay the money referred to by Ostell.
It would be better to let your parents know in advance, rather than find out from RLP.
Remember this is not the crime of the century, and although your parents will be a trifle upset and disappointed hopefully they will support you.
There are many threads on here about RLP,, which will tell you about their business practice, to which you could direct your parents.

i really don't know what to do, i had payed for the items and no charges were pressed so what's the need for a fine? i do kt have that sort of money for it as i'm only 15. My parents are already disappointed at me for ther reasons and this will just top it off. how long will it take for the letter to arrive? and if i ignore them how long until they stop sending me them?

by the way, when i was in the office they didn't say o was getting fined all the man said was "what are your parents gonna do when they find out" so i really don't know

The chances are that you (or your parents) will receive a series of letters from RLP demanding a sum of money for all the problems uyou have supposedly caused Primark
This is not a fine, it is an unjustified request for money, backed up by all sorts of veiled threats.
We know that Primark use RLP, and that RLP write to "offenders" demanding this payment even when all goods have been recovered in a saleable state.
The staff warned you that your parents would find out.
\it is going to be less of a shock to your mum and dad if you let them know about this incident before they find out from RLP. Their reaction will be more favourable for y--ou.
Also it will be less stressful for you awaiting the dreaded letter from RLP.

But just in case they write to your parents get in first and tell them. It would save even more upset later.

RLP pretend they have the authority to "Fine" you but is is a complete lie.

I was caught shoplifting in primark 2 days ago, they took me to the room to take all my details. they didn't let me to paypay for stuff ,and just said I have to pay fine. Moreover they took all my belongings like brush , book and food from another shops, saying that you probably steal it as well, I told then I can show bank statements, but they said only receipts. I was wondered how legal it was to take all my belongings? The woman sound really confident so I didn't argue and just left, and thretead me with police. The total amount of primark stuff was about £30.

I read here that I should not pay any fines from rlp, butwhat if it comes from cps ?

Sometimes I read things on here and think that common sense has gone out of the window. They were perfectly entitled to stop and detain you at the time. Age is irrelevant. You were caught shoplifting. The fact that you offered to pay clearly "undid" the damage that you had done. Also, the fact that you told them you were only 15 was probably the reason that they agreed to it. The six month ban is also something you cannot reasonably complain about. If they had gone down the route of informing your parents, they would most likely have taken it further. So really put it down to experience and thank your lucky stars that you got away with it. The only reason for you to tell your parents in my view is if it makes you feel better. You obviously had the means to pay at the time, so you don't really appear to have any reasonable excuse.

The other point that people seem to have missed is the fact that you paid for the goods means that technically no offence has actually been committed.
