paying charging order

i have an outstanding charging order on my house from my ex husband £1339
owed to a solicitor for outstanding fees. I need this removed so i can remortgage as part of my divorce agreement. i have sent the solicitor a cheque for the above sum he refused to cash it as he started legal proceedings against my ex husband although never went to court. He wants me to pay an extra £600
and will not remove charging order. I feel he is blackmailing me into paying this extra money.

Was the charging order placed under a voluntary agreement between your ex husband and the solicitor to avoid the court hearing ? If so do you / he have a copy of that agreement / consent order ? Or do you mean the solicitor obtained a default judgment and applied for the charge ? ( i.e. Not physically gone to court)

Really need more detail how the charge was registered to know if there is anything additional to pay.

The original order was a restriction total £1339 he then was going to apply for sale of property but did not take this to court.
he is the debtor acting for himself.

hi it was a default judgement that i knew nothing about,the restriction was put in my ex husbands name but as he never paid anything the solicitor was going to try to get the court to force sale but this action never went to court and this is what he is trying to charge me for. He won't cash the cheque for the charging order and therefore will not remove it.
