Hi i owe money due to the death of both parents last year im in debt i have depression and post traumatic stress i didnt open mail and discovered edf had a court date for warrent of entry. it took me a few days to call them as im an emotion wreck i told them i agreed to the meter and they dont need a warrent .
i was told basically tough luck they would apply for a warrent i told them to tell me when they would come so that i could be at home as its the school summer holidays i didnt want me 12 year old daughter home when they broke in and they said no they would still go ahead even if my daughter was home alone and vunerable its not there problem and the warrent allows them to do it i have explained that im vunerable and that i agree to the meter i woulnt stop it and they did not want to know. it felt like they were enjoying this i told them how much distress it would cause my emotionally fragile child and they said it was my fault as i was in debt.
i couldnt go to the court as i had to attend a family funeral so how do i get the warrent removed as they dont need to force entry as i have agreedeto the meter im really stressed i havnt slept for days im scared to leave the house and im dont want to go to work and leave my daughter home but if i dont work ill be sacked any advice appreciated

Who have you been dealing with ? the Electric company ?

It's edf energy I've been dealing with and it took me ages to get through it was the day before court hearing

Okay. The warrant is in place as you failed to attend court, understandably, but the court won't be aware of your circumstances as you didn't inform them. Have you had anything come through from the court yet?

You do need to put this all in writing to EDF asap, and make a formal complaint about the handling of your case, detailing your circumstances and requesting they make an appointment to fit the new meter so that you can make arrangements to allow entry.

I think you can apply to the court to suspend the warrant as well using form N245, but I'm not entirely sure how that works with meter changes like this.

meter warrants are just a rubber-stamping exercise aren't they (like Liability Orders)?? maybe an email/complaint to the CEO would stop them turning up tho'
