Hi.
Firstly I apologise if I have posted in the wrong place or if there is a thread already open for this kind of thing but I'm new to posting on LB.
Second, I'd like to thank you for your brilliant site as without advice given to others, my situation would not be resolved.
Okay so as the title suggests I had a default put on my account by orange in 2014 (Sept to be precise), for a contract I took out in 2012 which was 18 months duration.
It was around sept I had rang them and informed them I no longer needed the contract and the sim hadn't actually been used for about 2 months previous. After declining their improved offers I agreed with the representative that once my contract was finished they would close the account. After this I put it to the back of my mind and left it at that.
Towards the end of last year I received a letter from Lowell informing me that my orange debt had been sold to them and I owed them just over £200, obviously I disputed this and Lowell contacted Orange, sending me list of all transactions between myself and them from the start of my contract until 4 months after my contract was due to finish (these 4 months are what the debt and default refer to) but informed me the information clearly states the debt still stands as does the default even though it was after my contract was due to end and I had a remaining balance of £0.00 at the end of the contract.
Within the time of the arrears and subsequent default orange did not contact me to inform me of any debt owed or that it would default should I not pay.
I took it upon myself recently to rectify the situation and contacted Orange informing them of the situation and how negatively it has impacted me (I'm trying to buy a house for the first time) and they have just called to inform me that they will contact the credit agencies and remove the default which I am delighted about but I'm now wondering if I should seek compensation? I have very little legal knowledge and was hoping for advice?
