Our son signed up for training to be an electrician with T4TS. He paid for the course over 42 months, a total of around £7000 I believe. We countersigned his forms when the representative came round, the representative positively reported that he could take as long as he liked to complete the course. During the time since he received no communication with respect to time limits, i.e. That he was running out of time.
He has a very demanding employer who would not allow him time off for the practical courses and he could not tell him because he would have sacked him. He also had a baby with his partner and had to work long hours to provide for them. Due to the assurance he thought that it would be fine to return when he was able to focus properly on the course. He is devastated that he has been told this is not possible, nor can he be reimbursed. In days of missold PPI, surely this is very similar, can you advise please?

How long ago did he sign up with T4TS ?

Do you know who he paid - was it T4TS or CF4TS ?

Do you still have any copies of the documentation / terms etc ?

Sorry to hi Jack this post but I'm in a situation with train 4 trade skills at the moment I'm actually fighting on my father' behalf has he was sucked in by these scammers.

I believ he was mis-sold and misrepresentated from what he has explained to me the way the sales agent sold him the course. As the original poster has stated the length of the course was was not truly disclosed as there is a time limit to completion so clock is ticking all the time, my father was told in his own time and pace.

In reality my father couldn't afford the monthly repayments, but the sales agent pushed it through by altering his incoming and outgoings so on paper it worked. My father was actually 30k in debt at the time the agent pushed pen to paper.

I have sent the company a letter stating the issues and terms they have broken.
but they accepting no responsibility and said he should have cancelled in the cooling of period.
they are saying I should take matters up with finance company who supplied the finance.

has he will get into trouble if he fails to keep the monthly payments on time.
they have clearly mis-sold and broken misrepresentation act, and surely with him being 30k in debt any legit financ company who does credit checks on a person would have seen this and turned him down unless the the two company's are working together to get you on the roundabout and trap you.

I'm at a stop now and don' know what to do next any Advice would be truly appreciated

Yes the companies work together. If your Dad is in £30k debt and struggling dealing with it I'd guess his credit file isn't perfect or his top priority ? ( has he got some help dealing with the debts ?). This is 'just' a debt like any other - make a formal complaint to the training company and the finance company, trading standards and the FCA and FOS ( on the unaffordability and home selling aspects) stop paying and wait and see if they try taking him to court. Then defend the case based on the misrepresentation.

How much is the course ? 3 years to complete ? Do you know what qualifications it's meant to provide ?
Have you got copies of the documents he signed ?

Hello, I signed up for a plumbing course in 2008 with train 4 trade skills and started the first section, at the time I was going through a divorce and soon after I signed up to the course had a mental breakdown and was off work for about 5 months....

i was told when when I signed up by the pushy sales agent that I could take as long as I wanted to complete the course even if I started it in 20 years time...

After I recovered and went back to work I decided that the course wasn’t for me and as I had only started the first section they said that I could not get any sort of refund and that my credit agreement could not be cancelled... I argued this back and forth stating my situation and they did not care, I even offered to pay what I had used if I could cancel the remainder of the payments...

at the time and due to my breakdown I ended up in around £35k of debt but they were not at all bothered and consequently I had to carry on paying until I had paid the full £4000.

i still have all the paperwork and the sections that I completed, has anyone had any luck with this company? Either getting refunds or being able to start the course later?

Hi, I also got hijacked into signing up for an Electrical course back in 2011. CDF are still chasing me for the payments.

If Legal Beagles would like them, I have ALL my documents with signatures, T's & C's on the back, all marketing info and the tools and accommodation voucher etc. to look over.

The terms say a course could last between 12 to 36 months but doesn't stipulate you only have 36 months from me looking over them quickly.

I got pushed into signing up via the "There's only 2 places left and I'm gong to another visit to get signatures next, so if you don't sign now, you'll miss out...." script.

Figures for the agreement were made up by the rep so it looked like I could afford the £110 per month payment, I was in a desperate situation at the time and this seemed like the only way out to better my income for my family.

Time passed and another 2 children later and some very long working days meant I never had time to start the course and was never chased to ask why I hadn't submitted anything etc.

Please let me know if a) There's anything I can do to get CDF off my back, b)Cancel the course and forget it ever came into my life and c) if you want to see any of the documents.

I look forward to any help you can provide.
