Okay so May 2nd, I sent my supporting docs off for my passport, after some problems, I sent 2 sets of further docs on the 7th and 8th.
These docs were tax and P60 documents, 5+ bank statements, my birth cert, both parents birth certs and a marriage cert as well as my driving licence, car finance agreement ect as they wanted "proof that I currently use this name."
So, I was super shocked when on May 16th I received a letter to go for an interview (which was fine) but then on FACEBOOK of all places, a woman had posted in a public group a picture of my driving licence. She was asking who I was and stated that someone had sent her all my docs - everything listed above had been sent to her. She had sent off for her childs passport and received all my supporting docs instead.
I raised a complaint (which they have responded to absolutely pitifully - basically "we know we screwed up, but we're not actually going to do anything to fix it" which has further irritated me)
I am unsure how to take this further but surely there has to be some recourse of action because quite frankly, sorry is not good enough. They have put me at severe risk of identity theft and breached the data protection act. These people could take out a credit card or mortgage or whatever in my name. I had to cancel ALL my bank accounts ect.
