  • Just add Fuel - TAX added on top of Road Price advertised - is this correct?!

    Hi all,

I've been having several major issues and ongoing concerns with a Peugeot 308 just add fuel contract, whereby I believe that I was sold it on the wrong financial agreement.
However, my first question in this dispute is should the road Price advertised of the vehicle on a just add fuel contract then have added 20% tax on top? Or should the road Price advertised of the car in the showroom already contain the 20% tax levy of a new car?

Much appreciated, I'm sure you will be hearing further issues as I pursue my complaint against Hawkins motors and Peugeot.

Thanks for your reply. I don't believe I have a case regarding the VAT as I'm now led to believe that it's just the manner that they itemised the contract and total bill.
I do however believe I've been sold the incorrect financial agreement to which I went into request. Also, the itemised bill contains costs which Peugeot state are free!! Clearly not, they are just hidden!!
Furious as I wanted to have a lease car which I was lead to believe was Peugeots answer to it via just add fuel. I was awaiting a car so I've gone to hand the keys back (as I was told I could at any time) and been given a bill for £15,873 - that's without any comeback of an inspecton!!!
        Feel let down and cheated.

I wouldn't have said that they can tax you for the car's tax as tax would already have applied, unless they are eligible for some sort of tax relief from it and therefore apply the tax to you in which case would be misleading if the promotion is just add fuel.

How have they calculated the bill? Are they basing it on a voluntary surrender? What exactly were you told about handing it back at any time, any charges mentioned about how much it would cost?

As I suggest to everyone on here, you should always read the contract and always ensure that any questions are answered in writing or take someone along with you who can attest to what was said at the time. If you choose not to, then you do so at your own risk and that's usually where the issue lies, although easy to say in hindsight, just be more aware next time.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you
