  • Just found a Land Certificate to a sold property.

My mother went into care in 2004 and as I had POA for her, I was responsible for selling her unencumbered property to pay for care fees. The property was sold in the same year.

I have just found the big, old style Land Certificate, last updated on the register when my father died in 1988.

Obviously, some time has passed since the property was sold so should I be passing this document on to anyone or can I safely dispose and shred it?

    My mother died in 2006.

    Appreciate all advice!

As the property is now registered the land Certiicate is not strictly speaking required any longer.
However theycan be useful sometimes to the current owner if there are disputes eg over boundaries, so why not just post them to the current owners?
