  • Provision 29 "crime & taxation"DPA.. Personal data processed for the prevention of.?

Hi there. Can anyone help me with the provision 29 of the DPA 1998 in the ` prevent crime & taxation' section. Does this mean in some cases companies like high street banks etc. can disclose personal data to prevent crime or fraud occurring?
I know this is a very general question but I was just trying to understand the purpose of some of these provisions.
    Many thanks in advance...
