  • Ex sent private emails to solicitor - is this breach of DPA?

I think I already know that the answer is no as I don't think the DPA relates to private individuals but...

My ex-husband has forwarded on lots of private emails I sent him to his solicitor, which included information about our daughter's mental health issues. Is this a breach of the Data Protection Act?

    Thanks for any help

      Hi FemmeFranglais,
You're right your e-mails to family and friends would be classed as domestic purposes so are exceptions under s36 DPA 1998 and therefore not a breach.
If we can help further with the issue, give us a shout.
I am a qualified solicitor and am happy to try and assist informally, where needed.

Any posts I make on LegalBeagles are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as legal advice. Any practical advice I give is without liability. I do not represent people on the forum.

If in doubt you should always seek professional face to face legal advice.
