Hi,
I currently have a seven year old Citroen C3 Picasso on a HP agreement. The finance was taken out in Jan 2013 and ends in Jan 2018. The car has been problematic since the start culminating in my spending over £900 in engine and break repairs alone this year and came to a head last week when the engine developed a rattle (it starts but I have been advised not to drive it by a mechanic in case it totally blows the engine out), the most likely cause of this is a bent piston and I have been advised the engine will need to be replaced. I am now in a position where I need a car to get to work and am looking to VT my picasso to clear the outstanding £2100 finance balance.
I'm aware the company can charge me for reasonable repairs to the car if I haven't maintained it (I have receipts for all the repairs to the car plus a valid MOT certificate). Would anyone here be able to give me some advice about VT'ing under these circumstances. I have tried to talk to the finance company about it (close Brothers), but to say they've been hostile is an understatement.
Thanks in advance
