Just registered with legal beagles and wanted to say hello. My name is Mike. I'm a retired teacher. Been unwell this year but recovered now. Currently in an argument with the dvla who revoked my driving licence. My doctor is of the opinion that they're ignoring their own guidelines in doing this. Currently reapplying for a licence with a letter of support from my GP.

Re: Hi
Hi and welcome
DVLA can be right b*****S sometime, but they will argue they operate on a "fail safe" basis.
Actually, they won't argue or enter into a meaningful dialogue!
Did you surrender your licence voluntarily, before it was revoked?
Was it revoked because of a prescribed disabilty, or a progressive disability.
If the disability is neither of the above the licence can only be revoked because the driver "is likely to be a source of danger to the public". For that there has to be an identifiable cause.
Did the letter informing you of its revocation also advise how long you had to wait before applying for its return?
For some medical conditions the applicant has to wait a set period before reapplying eg a person with epilepsy has to demonstrate a 12 month period without any fits before applying for return of licence.
Hope your current application has a satisfactory outcome.
If it doesn't, and your loss of licence is having a major adverse effect on your life, you might consider applying for its return through a magistrates court.
