  • One name on deeds two on mortgage

    Hi,

My girlfriend and I have been going out for a couple of years. I live with my parents and she lives with hers.

We are in the process of buying a home and moving in together. I currently have a buy to let property, and she has nothing.

We have found a lender who will allow us to put both names on the mortgage, but just one on the deeds.

    Is this ok?

    Is that what you want?

Who's the lender because most won't lend unless both names are on the deeds?

      Thanks for the response Diana.

The lender is metro bank and they are happy with it.

I'd rather do this than pay the extra 3% second home stamp duty. It seems even though I don't own a residential house, just a buy to let, I am still liable for the extra 3%.

I've tried contacting hmrc multiple times but can't get a response from them.
