Hi everyone this is my first post just looking for some information.
Today I got a letter from Lowell Financial saying I owe £160 and the letter starts off:-
Dear *********
We've not heard from you
We refer to our previous letter. You previously had loan(s) from Provident Personal Credit Limited where their agent visited you at home on a regular basis to take your agreed payment. Your account has been sold to Lowell because you did not continue to make your payments.
We need you to contact us urgently to discuss this account, so please call us on 0333 556 5709 or visit our website www.lowell.co.uk to either pay in full, if you can afford to do so, or set up an affordable repayment plan.
It then goes on to say about being able to set up weekly or monthly repayment plan etc
The problems not amount as I can easily pay this off, but this is the first I've heard anything about a Provident loan... I had a loan with greenwoods (also run by provident?) But this was about 4 years ago and I'm not going to just hand over £160 without knowing for sure I definitely owe this. I've had no threats of baliffs etc as I have read you can get with debt collection companies but as I am saving up for a house I don't want anything that could effect me being able to get a mortgage in the very near future.
Also as the last I heard from Provident was 4 years ago and since then my number has changed so is there anyway I can do everything in writing as I don't give my number out to companies and so I also have everything they say in writing?
Thanks for taking the time to read this -Thewolf
