  • damage to boundary wall

    Hello
We have a dry stone boundary wall adjacent the highway. Over the years the highway has increased in height, especially the verges through splash, growth and general resurfacing. Our wall is now collapsing but the local authority have refused to accept liability even though a local councillor agreed that it was the highways fault.

    Re: damage to boundary wall

    Hi and Welcome

Responsibility for a boundary wall is the owners.
Historically the boundary wall was probably erected after the right of way many years ago.

I have similar problem in that road height has increased, causing excess water to flood through dry stone wall and assist the rot in wooden gates.
    My problem, not the councils!
