Help with Hire purchase for car my late husband took out

I have discovered after the death of my husband in July that unbeknown to me that he took out a HP loan for my car.

I thought he had paid from his savings . He put £10,000 in and I paid £5,000 from my savings .

The car car was purchased in my name , but lloyds are saying the car belongs to them . It was only purchased in April

where do I stand with this. There is no money in his estate , there was only enough to pay for his funeral .

Your post is a little confusing so would just like to clarify some points.

- Which name is on the HP agreement was it yours or your husbands?

- What has the Lloyd's said they are going to do? are they going to retake possession of the car?

- what was the total cost of the car and have you paid at least 1/3 of the total price since July?

The debt is in his name
they say I have 3 choices
1 the estate pay the balance owed £9k
2 the estate take on the monthly payments £295 per month
3 the car is returned to them

this agreement was taken out by my husband for £10k unbeknown to me.
We purchased the car in April 2016. My husband died in July 2016 . His bank accounts were closed in August . So I think only 3 months payments have been paid

I paid £5k to the garage and he paid £10k. The car and the sale/invoices are all in my name .

as I have said there is no money in his estate . It went all towards his funeral.

he also died without a will.
