Re: Advice for money lost to eBay scammer

No problem, I know how frustrating it can be.

Did you report the original offence to your local force? If so, could be worth reporting it to GMP for them to deal with as the offenders are in their area. They may look on it as theft instead of fraud as the offender hasn't exactly hidden what they've done. No harm in trying. It's an easy detection as far as I can see, especially if you have copies of the communication between you. Also if there are any local surgeries that your local force hold always worth turning up and speaking to an officer rather than someone that answers the phone, they may have a different opinion on what to do. Unfortunately it is sometimes down to who you speak to, some people are more helpful than others

Re: Advice for money lost to eBay scammer

      Hi all,

Got my judgement through against the "seller" now.

I'm thinking of going ahead and getting a third party debt order. The issue I have is that it says there'll be a court date and I have to attend - will the court be in Manchester or will it be closer to me in Essex? A bit unfair if I have to travel all the way to Manchester!!

The guy actually updated his facebook picture posing with the car :tinysmile_aha_t:

My understanding is it will be the claimants local court but you can always call your local court and ask them just to make sure
