  • Hello

    Hi,

I've just joined today after seeing a post share on facebook about a court case involving parking and Gladstones.

My particular area of interest is the disproportionate fees that Private Parking Companies try to charge for alleged overstays etc. which can often be tracked back to poor signage or "double dip" etc. and more recently, the way they and their debt collecting friends use the court system to frighten people into paying up.

I'm also interested in the fact the Government support this by selling details through the DVLA to Parking Companies without asking for any evidence of Reasonable Cause, just based on the fact that they are members of an Approved Operator Scheme... And the fact that AOS's are operated by the industry without any real control. "Kangaroo Court" comes to mind... Especially as one of the AOS schemes appears to be operated by peopole more accustomed to chasing people for parking charges rather than in being fair and reasonable...

I've fought and won against ParkingEye myself but was lucky in the fact I had all the evidence, willpower and the time to fight it. Since then I've spent a lot of time helping other people to fight similar things.

Don't get me wrong, if you use a private car park i think you should try to adhere to any reasonable t&c's that are clearly displayed and pay if it's a pay car park...

Anyway, that's me... The rest of the time I'm either designing buildings or making things out of leather...

        Hi,

Yes. I have seen that as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are currently looking for people with CCJ's that they didn't know about? Another forum I am on refer anyone in that situation directly to that site.

Of course, going up against ParkingEye is like going up against the establishment, given that they are owned by Capita... Who have many government contracts and seem to have fingers in every pie, including the DVLA...
