Bailiff is threatening to put my door in for a fine my son owes even thou he is paying. The fact is my son used my address as a postal address and has never lived with me even thou I've explained this to the bailiff he said he wants to come in and look around ?? What he hopes to gain I'm unsure can I refuse him to enter ?? Also I have explained that my property is rented as fully furnished and I own nothing in it !! But he has threaten to remove goods from my home. I have nothing to do with any of this I've only let my son use my address as to where his post is sent. Can anyone advise me pls

Re: Bailiff
You do not have to let the bailiff in, see https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/de...nto-your-home/
But I suggest you tell your son you do not appreciate this hassle and please stop using you address.

Re: Bailiff
I would also throw - make sure they are not from the HIGH COURT. High Court bailiffs are allowed to gain entry if it is written on their warrant. When he next pops over - do NOT let them in and ask to see the warrant. If they do not have a warrant to gain entry, the only way they are allowed in is through an open door or window - so make sure everything is closed and locked. Also, if you own a car (unless its on finance, they can't touch it) - move it somewhere safe and out of sight.
A normal bailiff(NOT from the High Court) can't really remove it if it doesn't belong to your son - BUT - they probably will clamp it, just to apply pressure tactics. So don't give them that opportunity.
Regarding goods - you will need to provide evidence it doesnt belong to you - ideally your tenancy agreement outlining what items are in the property and inventory.
