Can anyone help Jacobs bailiff has been over weekend and left a letter saying they want council tax money off this person who doesn't live here and will not leave me alone been to council and they said it's out of there hands please can someone advise me what to do I'm a prisoner in my own home

Hi Tracy

Do you know the person they are seeking? has he ever lived at your address? Are Jacobs explaining why they believe he is at your address? If you know this person, do you have a current address for them?

Councils can be bloody minded when it comes to calling off the bailiffs for sure but they must have due cause to believe that this person is or has been associated with your address. If you can give some more detail, that will be helpful.

Having said that, if you genuinely have no knowledge of this person or he has never been connected with your address, then the bailiffs have no legal right of entry and all you have to say is that the person they are chasing does not live at your address and you are not allowing them legal entry for any reason. They cannot effect forcible entry and certainly not without your permission. As such, there is absolutely no reason to consider yourself a prisoner in your own home.

However, you need to confirm that you have no knowledge of this person or current whereabouts.
