  • Should I have been offered a similar role before being made redundant?

I have been 'chosen' after 21 years to leave my company due to my role being no longer required.

However, a couple of months ago someone was recruited to do only part of my role (which is part time) on a full time basis but working in another department. Should I have been given the opportunity to apply for this job before being made redundant? What rights do I have on this?

There was also another person taken on to do another part (but much smaller) of my job and that role was also not offered to me. So as a result of these two new full time positions my part time role has been deemed to be no longer required.
    Any thoughts?

    I'm a bit miffed!
