  • Lowell Financial - mail for person I don't know.

    Hi,,

This is a little odd to me, but hopefully straight forward to people who know such things.

I live & work in Scotland in case different legal rules apply.

A couple of days ago I left work & my wife phone to say that a chap called Martin had phoned (on the house landline, an unlisted number), asked for me by name & said he was my friend from work and wanted to meet for a drink. She explained I had just left work & they guy said he'd phone me - which he never did.

Then we got a letter through the post from Lowell Finance Ltd for a "Martin O Callaghan" at my address.
There is not, or ever has been to my knowledge, anyone of that name living here - and we've lived here for over 15 years.

My wife had opened theletter by accident (it was ealry & she didn't have her glasses on, so she didn't spot the wrong name). It's for an O2 bill.

I've read a few things on the forums about Lowell & I'm unclear if this is a genuine mistake which can easily be corrected or the start of some subterfuge to extort money.

Over the years we have incurred lots of debt - but we've always paid everything (on track to be debt free over the next 3 years) and we have nothing we've defaulted on.

My wife sent them an email - which I wasn't sure was the right thing to do - explaining that they had sent this to us in error. To early to tell if they'll respond.

To be honest I'm a bit worried about contacting them as it seems like, once you admit your existence they will continue to harrass. I'm really not feeling up to any extended contact with them and paying my genuine debts doesn't leave any room to manoevre financially if I had to contact any paid service to deal with
    Lowell.

Anyone got any views they can share?

    Thank you.
