  • Cost of BT Premium Mail set to rise?

Hi ... just wondered if anyone on here continues to use BT mail after they have left BT as their Internet Service Provider?

I left BT about a year ago when I moved and went over to PlusNet for phone and fibre internet.

BT came storming in stating that my BT mail address would lapse after a month ( although many people I know, this has not happened for them ) and I agreed to pay for 'BT Premium Mail' at £1.60 a month to retain that email address. This was essential as my whole life has revolved around that for some 20 years plus now.

But a few weeks back I received an email from them telling me it as rising by 213% to £5 a month. The email looked a tad odd and certainly didn't reflect BT's solid sales patter. Yet the internet is buzzing with people making the same claim. You try emailing these guys and you can wait for eternity.

    Anyone know about this?

I still use a @btinternet.com mail after having left BT service provider some time ago.

    Doesn't cost me anything.

Thank you charitynjw ... I have indeed heard this from others and it makes you wonder why they allow a two tier service of this nature. But to put this facility up to £5 is outrageous when you consider people using it for free. I could buy my own domain email address for that. Might well be the way to go or even Gmail or Aol Mail which are both entirely free.
