We went to a carpetright store in June last year and was looking at a carpet. We were upsold one in the same colour and paid for it via finance. 3 months later and we see a drastic change in the carpet. Its different shades in areas, the pile had reversed and it looked like it had been down years. It took us a few months to get carpetright to come out and inspect it. They said it was normal wear for the carpet and that there is no manufacturer fault. We then asked for a second opinion and was told someone would get in touch. They did but to buy a carpet!! They eventually said we'd have to pay for our own report which we did at £125. He also said no manufacturers fault but the pile has heavily changed and there was a big change in the appearance of the carpet in such a short time. We then went to the finance company and gave them a copy of the report. They passed this on to carpetwrong who have just dismissed it.
I've just this minute done a moneyclaim against them. Have carpetright been taken to court before if carpets haven't 'met or expectations'? have they won? Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated

Mightbe worth your while to send the whole story to Carpetright CEO WilfWalsh wilf.walsh@carpetright.co.uk.It won’t even cost you a stamp and he just might sort it out.

        Re: Carpetright

Well I emailed the guy you suggested and he's passed it on to the customers service manager who's agreed that although there are no manufacturers faults, the carpets not met our expectations and will re fit a carpet of our choice to the same price at no cost if we pull our claim from court. Not a bad outcome. Thanks for the info

Glad it worked out and as said above thanks for the feedback.

Sometimes you simply have to talk to the organ grinder and not the monkey! I always give a company one chance to sort it, then I make a formal written complaint giving them 14 days to sort it out and then if I have a bad or no response I email the CEO. Never fails.
