I read the legal beagles forum and voluntarily terminated my hp agreement with Motonovo just after half way through the hp period.
I was worried about the high mileage accrued on the car but was reassured by the advice on the site.
The process went as described and the car collected just under a fortnight after delivering my termination letter by email.
Motonovo were difficult to speak to with long delays and being held in a call queue. However they were always polite and didnt try to flannel me.
The car inspection didnt go quite as well as expected with a missing stmp in the service book resulting in a fee of £300 being levied. A ding in the paintwork that had been there when the car was purchased and not repaired by the garage was also charged.
I got a bill for £800 plus with the letter saying pay in 4 days and get 10% off or we go for debt recovery, your credit rating is at risk etc.
I had read the forums and was fairly sure of my ground so phoned them on a Saturday. Word to the wise, dont phone on a Saturday there collections department is closed. They will let you pay it all on a Saturday but cant discuss it. I phoned back on Monday and got through to collections. I explained that there was a stamp missing out the book but I had photographed the book (as advised) and had also provided the service receipts and invoices. The car had every service and the garage had missed one stamp. Straight away the £300 cost was removed.
we discussed the pre existing ding in the car and I was asked if I was trying not to pay anything. Not at all I was happy to pay for the scratches and minor dings I had put in and could do today for full and final settlement.
This was agreed with absolutely no drama and I paid what I was due immediately in full and final settlement a figure I was much, much happier with and was fair.
If you plan on going through voluntary early termination, do your research on the forum, know your rights, take your photographs and keep them. Keep calm on the phone and stand your ground.
